Glovers Trust would like to thank you all that helped contribute to last night’s Launch Party. It was a great night and we now have over 100 adult members. Special thanks go to Chris Weale, John Clancy, Marcus Fysh MP and the Jolly Green Giant, as well as all the volunteers that helped set up and clean up afterwards.

Next event for the Trust will be the Yeovil Show on Saturday and Sunday 16th & 17th of July; come along and see us, sign up, buy some merchandise and find out how you can help! We will be pleased to see you and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

The day of the Glovers Launch Party has finally arrived and we are busy putting the finishing touches to what we hope will be a memorable night in the history of the Trust.  We also have the first batch of membership packs ready for those who have already jumped on board since the online membership process went live.  Come and join us at the 94 Club, Middle Street Yeovil from 7:30pm, where as well as having the opportunity to join the Glovers Trust, you will also be able to take part in some football related fun, such as a Beat the Goalie competition, a Photo Booth, and a bouncy castle for younger ones. We are also hoping to be supported by a number of former players, and with the opportunity to contribute further to the Trust funds by purchasing exclusive merchandise, an enjoyable evening will be had by all; young and old.

Following five months of hard work, and having now completed the necessary preliminary tasks, the Glovers Trust is now in a position to receive membership applications. The Trust website, www.glovers-trust.co.uk, is now fully operational and will be the definitive source of information for new rules, policies, aims, membership joining instructions and more!

Anyone who wishes to become a member of the Glovers Trust can do so either by completing an online membership application through the website, or by printing an application form and posting the completed version with cheque payment to GLOVERS TRUST MEMBERSHIP, PO BOX 5240, YEOVIL, SOMERSET, BA20 9FR. Adult membership costs £10 with child membership only £1. We are also offering a corporate membership scheme costing £100 for businesses who would like to contribute to the cause.

The Glovers Trust Launch Party will not be the only opportunity that prospective members will have to meet members of the current Interim Board. We are delighted to have been able to obtain a trade stand at the Yeovil Show on the 16th and 17th of July and will be utilising the event to extend our presence in the local community and provide visitors with the opportunity to find out more about the Glovers Trust and sign up.

IT’S A TEAM GAME; JOIN OUR TEAM!

We would like to inform our prospective members that three representatives of the Glovers Trust met with Chairman of Yeovil Town FC Mr John Fry, the First Team Manager Mr Darren Way and Company Secretary Mr David Lee at Huish Park on Thursday evening, 30th June.

The Glovers Trust also invited two representatives from Supporters Direct Headquarters in London and a presentation was made to the representatives of Yeovil Town FC to give them as much information as is possible regarding Supporters Trusts, the Glovers Trust and its current activities, aims and objectives.

We would like to confirm that no long-term aims were proposed, agreed or discussed and the Interim Board of Directors are purely focussed on launching and recruiting members ahead of the first AGM which will take place in September.

The meeting was productive and it is hoped that armed with the correct information relating to Supporters Trusts, the Club and the Glovers Trust will be able to work together in a spirit of cooperation for the benefit of our Football Club and wider community.

The Glovers Trust Interim Board of Directors are pleased to confirm that we have arranged a launch party at Club 94 in Yeovil in the late afternoon & evening of Saturday 9th of July.

The purpose of the party is to celebrate the formation of the Trust and also to enable people to find out more and sign-up on the night.

The event is open to all supporters who can make it and we hope to have some ex-players in attendance as well. We would love as many supporters as possible to join us in celebrating this significant milestone in the Trust’s history.

The Glovers Trust Interim Board of Directors are pleased to announce that membership fees have now been finalised. Adult membership will be £10 per year and for supporters under 16 years of age, £1 per year. We have purposely kept these amounts as low as possible to allow inclusion for all Yeovil Town supporters with a vison that together we can assist our Club and our Community and look to a bright future in the Football League.

Details of when the Trust will be in a position to recruit members and also a launch party event to celebrate the formation of the Trust will be released in due course

The Working Party known to date as ‘The Yeovil Voice’ are pleased to be in a position to provide an update on activities that have been undertaken following an almost unanimous vote in January 2016 by supporters of Yeovil Town Football Club in favour of forming a Supporters Trust.
The Yeovil Town Supporters Society Limited, known as the GLOVERS TRUST, has now been officially recognised by Supporters Direct and registered by the Financial Conduct Authority.  This has been the result of much hard work by many volunteers with the desire to bring a democratic, not for profit, community based society, and independent organisation to represent the voice of Yeovil Town Supporters.
The volunteers who make up the steering committee of the Glovers Trust are also preparing for the first AGM which will take place in approximately 6 months’ time.  The Trust will operate under a one member, one vote principle and all members with voting rights will be invited to stand or nominate any other member for election as a Trust Board representative.  The newly elected Board will then oversee the running of the Trust for a fixed period, calling on its members to vote on how the Glovers Trust shall be run and what stance it wishes to take on various initiatives and issues.
The steering group has remained keen to gain and maintain support from all supporters, including the existing Yeovil Town supporters’ organisations regarding the formation of the Glovers Trust and are pleased to have received our first formal message of support from the Bridport Glovers Supporters Club:
“The Bridport Glovers are delighted to hear that the Glovers Trust has now been fully registered. We look forward to working constructively with them to bring a bright future to Yeovil Town Football Club. We fully support the entries in the Register of Assets of Community Value that have been issued by the S.S.D.C.”

The Glovers Trust Interim Board of Directors are pleased to announce that they have successfully registered Huish Park and its surrounding land as an Asset of Community Value.

The Localism Act 2011 has made provisions to give communities a right to identify a building or other land that they believe to be of importance to their community’s social well-being.  Having identified Huish Park Stadium, and its surrounding land, as fitting this criteria, the Board of Directors have submitted nominations to the South Somerset District Council to include both of these areas on the Register of Assets of Community Value.  After full consideration, the South Somerset District Council have agreed with the nomination on the grounds that the primary use of the Stadium and the surrounding land in the recent past enhances the social well-being and interests of the local community, and that it is realistic to expect that current and future activities undertaken at the site will continue to do so.

Inclusion on the Register of Assets means that should the stadium or land be put up for sale, the owners must notify the local authority who in turn will notify the Glovers Trust and also publish the intentions in the local community. The community will have an opportunity to express an interest in being treated as a potential bidder during the period and interested parties would be given a period of six months to make a bid.  The owners would still be free to sell the assets to whomever they choose and at whatever price, however the legislation at the very least empowers the local community to actively participate in this process.  As many football stadia across the country are now included on Local Authority Registers, the Glovers Trust Steering Group feel that Huish Park and the surrounding land should not be left unprotected and are delighted that this has been echoed by South Somerset District Council.
